Mixer pairings
What goes with Dark Rum Alternative
- Cola: a classic pairing that brings out the caramel and vanilla. Finish with fresh lime.
- Ginger ale: gentle spice and a little sweetness. Add an orange slice or a lime wedge.
- Ginger beer: a bolder kick for a refreshing long drink. Serve with plenty of ice and fresh lime.
- Pineapple juice: tropical fruit that complements the rich molasses notes. Try a splash of soda and a squeeze of lime.
- Cloudy apple juice: orchard fruit meets caramel and warm spice. Finish with a thin apple slice.
- Soda water: a lighter, drier option. Start with a small splash and add orange peel for an aromatic lift.
Finishing touches
A little garnish goes a long way
Squeeze a fresh lime wedge into a cola or ginger serve to balance the sweetness. Give mint a gentle slap between your palms before adding it to a Mai Tai, or finish a Jungle Bird with a pineapple wedge. For a simpler pour, twist orange peel over the glass to release its fragrant oils.
