1 part Tequila Alternative to 2 parts mixer. Try grapefruit soda, tonic or soda water. Add fresh lime and adjust the mixer to taste.

Bright and citrusy

3 parts Tequila Alternative to 1 part Orange Sec to 2 parts lime juice. The core of a Classic Margarita. Add 0.5 part white sugar syrup (1:1), then shake with ice.

Bittersweet and aromatic

3 parts Tequila Alternative to 1 part Italian Spritz to 2 parts lime juice to 1 part almond syrup. The balance behind a Lyrebird Handle. Shake and serve over fresh ice.

Mixer pairings

What goes with Tequila Alternative

  • Pink grapefruit soda: the classic choice for a Paloma. Add fresh lime and a grapefruit wheel.
  • Soda water: a light, crisp pairing that leaves room for the agave and pepper. Finish with lime.
  • Indian tonic: a bittersweet long drink with a citrus lift. Garnish with grapefruit or lime.
  • Pineapple juice: tropical sweetness that balances the savory notes. Add a squeeze of lime.
  • Blood orange soda: juicy citrus for a colorful Paloma-inspired serve. Finish with an orange slice.
  • Ginger beer: bold ginger spice for a mule-inspired pour. Serve over plenty of ice with fresh lime.

Finishing touches

A little garnish goes a long way

Run a lime wedge around half the rim of your glass, then dip it in salt so you can choose a salty or unsalted sip. Try a grapefruit wheel with a Paloma, or a little chili-lime seasoning for a spicy edge. Use fresh citrus and plenty of ice to keep every serve bright and refreshing.
