Ratio guide
Get the balance right every time
Good cocktails come down to proportion. Use these ratios as your starting point, then adjust to taste.
Long and tall
1 part Amaretti to 2 or 3 parts mixer. For a highball with ginger beer, soda or cola. Refreshing and easy to batch for guests.
Sours
2 parts Amaretti to 1 part citrus to 0.5 part sugar syrup. Taste before you pour: Amaretti is already sweet, so go lightly on the syrup.
Stirred and spirit-forward
2 parts Amaretti to 1 part bitter or aromatic element. Try a strong cold brew or a non-alcoholic bitter, stirred with ice for 30 seconds.
Mixer pairings
What goes with Amaretti
- Ginger beer: spicy warmth that lifts the almond. A reliable crowd-pleaser.
- Cola: a nostalgic, dessert-style long drink with a squeeze of lime.
- Fresh lemon juice: bright acidity to balance the sweetness in a sour.
- Cold espresso or cold brew: coffee and almond are natural partners.
- Soda water: a lighter, drier serve with an orange twist.
- Apple juice: crisp orchard fruit for an autumnal highball.
- Tonic water: a bittersweet, aperitivo-style long drink over plenty of ice.
Finishing touches
A little garnish goes a long way
Add a lemon wheel and a cocktail cherry to an Amaretti Sour, or twist orange peel over a soda serve to release its fragrant oils. Finish an Almond Espresso Martini with three coffee beans. For festive serves, a cinnamon stick and star anise bring an inviting aroma to every glass.
