Tools You'll Need to Make Non-Alcoholic Cocktails at Home

To create a home cocktail-making set-up for the ages, you’ll need to have the right equipment. You can find them at homewares stores, department stores, kitchen stores and even some local supermarkets.

1. Jigger: A jigger is a small hourglass-shaped double cup made of metal that is used to measure drink ingredients precisely. If you don’t have one of these, you can always just use a shot glass marked with measurements.

2. Cocktail shaker: Cocktails are made to... well… shake cocktails (you guessed it). These are two types of shakers: the Boston shaker (which you need a separate cocktail strainer for) and the standard shaker (which will come with a built-in strainer).

3. Muddler: A muddler is a long stick that you can use to mash ingredients like mint, passionfruit or sugar cubes, to  release their flavors and aromas.

4. Metal bar spoon with a long handle: Basically, this is just a really long spoon that you can use to get right into the corners of cocktails shakers to make sure everything is properly stirred. Get one of these and it can also easily be used as a muddler so you don’t have to double up on tools!

5. A high quality blender: For drinks like daiquiris and margaritas, you’ll need a good blender for crushing ice and whizzing everything up to create your non-alcoholic flavor sensations.
